URL and Wi-Fi QR codes that actually work
Static-only product stance, URL/Wi-Fi tips from our generator UI, and when a printed Wi-Fi code is a bad idea.
Tokitool’s QR Code Generator makes static codes in the browser: the payload you type is encoded into PNG or SVG you download. There is no Tokitool short-link service behind the image, no scan dashboard, and nothing that “expires” when a SaaS trial ends. That product choice is the point of this guide.
Typed explainers live under /qr-code (URL, Wi-Fi, text, email) and deep-link into the generator with a starter payload. Each page is written for that payload type, not copied from a QR vendor blog.
URL codes on Tokitool
Put the full https://… address in the text field. We keep foreground charcoal and a light background as defaults because low-contrast “brand colored” modules are the failure mode we see when people redesign first and test later. Export SVG for print jobs; PNG for slides and social.
- If you add a center logo, raise error correction in the tool (Q or H). Logos punch a hole in the code; higher ECC is how scanners recover.
- Test with two different phones before a print run. Camera apps disagree more than people expect.
- Do not stretch the preview into a rectangle; keep it square.
Wi-Fi codes on Tokitool
The Wi-Fi mode builds the credential string phones expect (network name, security type, password) so guests are not typing a 20-character key from a sticky note. That convenience has a cost: anyone who can scan the printout learns the password. For a café chalkboard that is the goal. For a home network left on a porch, rotate the password after the event, or do not print the QR at all.
Static Wi-Fi codes cannot be “revoked” remotely. Changing the router password is the revoke.
Static vs dynamic (our stance)
Dynamic QR platforms are useful when you need to edit the destination after print or collect scan analytics. They also insert a redirect server you do not control. Tokitool deliberately does not offer that. If you need analytics, use a dynamic vendor knowingly. If you need a code that still works in five years with no account, use static.
What we generate vs what we refuse to promise
We generate the image. We do not promise every dusty warehouse scanner will read a 1 cm sticker with a neon logo on top. Leave quiet margin, keep contrast high, and print a test sheet.
