How to make a passport photo

Crop and resize a photo to official passport or visa dimensions, privately in your browser.

  1. Pick a size. Choose a country preset, or enter a custom width and height in mm, inches, or pixels.
  2. Add a photo. Drop or browse a JPEG, PNG, or WebP. Nothing runs until you click Prepare photo.
  3. Click Prepare photo. The original backdrop is removed in the browser, then you crop. First run may take a moment while the model loads.
  4. Crop and set the background. Position the crop frame so your head and eye line fit the guide. Drag the CROWN and CHIN guides to check head height, then pick a plain background color.
  5. Download. Export the exact-size JPEG (preferred for most portals) or PNG only if your form allows it.

Are presets official?

Country presets are convenient starting points for common print sizes. Always confirm the latest requirements with the issuing authority before you submit an application.

Custom size in mm or inches

Switch units and type exact width and height. The crop frame follows those dimensions so you can match a form that asks for a non-standard passport photo size.

What DPI should I use?

300 DPI is the usual default for print-style passport photos. Some digital portals state pixels instead. Switch the unit toggle to px and enter those numbers directly.

JPEG or PNG for passport uploads?

Most passport and visa portals want JPEG. Use PNG only when the application explicitly allows it.

How do I hit a 50 KB or 100 KB upload limit?

Finish the correct crop here first, then compress with the Image Compressor. Shrinking kilobytes before the size is right often produces a soft, rejected photo.
