A 50 KB limit is common on Indian exam and job portals, visa uploads, Passport Seva-style forms, and some bank KYC checks. Phone photos are usually 2–8 MB, so you need a sharp cut, not a tiny quality nudge.
Use two levers together: lower JPEG quality (start around 50–65%) and keep pixel dimensions modest (roughly 300×300 to 600×600 for a headshot, or about 413×531 if you already cropped an India 35×45 mm passport photo). That combination usually lands under 50 KB while staying readable on a form preview.
If you are still over the limit, crop tighter, switch output to WebP when the portal accepts it, or start from a smaller export from your camera roll. Signatures and document crops hit 50 KB easily; full scenic photos need more resizing first. Photos saved as PNG are often huge—convert them to JPEG in the compressor or use the Compress PNG guide first.
Order of operations for passport and ID uploads: resize to the correct print size (for example India passport photo size), then compress to under 50 KB. Compressing a wrong crop first wastes quality and still fails dimension checks.
