Turning PNG files into JPG
PNG stores every pixel exactly as it was, which is the right trade for logos and screenshots but wasteful for photographs. A camera shot saved as PNG can run 8 MB where the same image as JPG sits comfortably under 1 MB, with no difference most people can see on a screen.
Converting is the fix, and the one thing to know first is transparency. JPG has no alpha channel, so any transparent area has to become a solid colour. Tokitool flattens it onto white, which is what you want for ID photos, document scans, and anything headed for a printed form. If the transparency is the point, such as a logo destined for a coloured background, convert to WebP instead and keep the cutout.
The other reason people convert is acceptance rather than size. Plenty of visa portals, exam registration systems, and older HR platforms only take .jpg or .jpeg, and will reject a PNG regardless of how small it is. Converting satisfies the validator even when the original was already tiny.
